چکیده

In the unicellular green alga Eremosphaera viridis caffeine induces oscillations of cytosolic Ca which cause membrane potential oscillations. Application of the caffeine analogues isocaffeine, theophylline, and isotheophylline resulted in membrane potential oscillations with a structure-activity relationship comparable to isolated ryanodine/cyclic ADPribose (cADPR) receptor Ca channels from animal cells.

Cyclic ADP ribose is a novel regulator of intracellular Ca2+ oscillations in human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a promising cell source for regenerative medicine. However, the cellular biology of these cells is not fully understood. The present study characterizes the cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR)-mediated Ca(2+) signals in human MSCs and finds that externally applied cADPR can increase the frequency of spontaneous intracellular Ca(2+) (Ca(2+) (i) ) oscillations....

Role of cyclic ADP-ribose in the regulation of [Ca]i in porcine tracheal smooth muscle

Prakash, Y. S., Mathur S. Kannan, Timothy F. Walseth, and Gary C. Sieck. Role of cyclic ADP-ribose in the regulation of [Ca]i in porcine tracheal smooth muscle. Am. J. Physiol. 274 (Cell Physiol. 43): C1653–C1660, 1998.—The purpose of the present study was to determine whether cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) acts as a second messenger for Ca21 release through ryanodine receptor (RyR) channels in trac...

Pharmacological characterization of the putative cADP-ribose receptor.

cADP-ribose (cADPR), a naturally occurring metabolite of NAD(+), has been shown to be an important regulator of intracellular Ca(2+) release. Considerable evidence suggests that cADPR is the endogenous modulator of the ryanodine receptor (RyR), which mediates Ca(2+)-induced Ca(2+) release (CICR). Indeed, cADPR-mediated Ca(2+) release is subject to functional regulation by other modulators of CI...

8-Bromo-cyclic inosine diphosphoribose: towards a selective cyclic ADP-ribose agonist

cADPR (cyclic ADP-ribose) is a universal Ca(2+) mobilizing second messenger. In T-cells cADPR is involved in sustained Ca(2+) release and also in Ca(2+) entry. Potential mechanisms for the latter include either capacitative Ca(2+) entry, secondary to store depletion by cADPR, or direct activation of the non-selective cation channel TRPM2 (transient receptor potential cation channel, subfamily m...

Regulation of calcium signalling by adenine-based second messengers.

cADPR [cyclic ADPR (ADP-ribose)], NAADP (nicotinic acid-adenine dinucleotide phosphate) and ADPR belong to the family of adenine-containing second messengers. They are metabolically related and are all involved in the regulation of cellular Ca(2+) homoeostasis. Activation of specific plasma membrane receptors is connected to cADPR formation in many cell types and tissues. In contrast receptor-m...
